Why are you involved with the Lake Erie Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association?
As a recent graduate of Penn State, I was selected to represent the university as a Young Alumni Ambassador. After relocating from State College, PA to Erie, PA for my job with ALDI, I was ecstatic to join the Lake Erie Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association as a way to meet fellow alumni and gain a sense of community in my new home.
What is your favorite Penn State moment?
My most memorable moment as a Penn State student was experiencing the sheer excitement during the 2016 Penn State vs. Ohio State game in Beaver Stadium. As a freshman, I remember the adrenaline of 110,000 fans cheering on the team and the exciting finale as the entire student section rushed to the field in celebration.
What do you like most about your career?
The most rewarding part of my career is not only being a manager for business purposes, but also serving as a confidant to those I work with every day. Every day brings a new challenge, allowing me to grow as a professional and gain invaluable interpersonal and problem solving skills.
What are your hobbies?
Outside of work, I love to golf, travel, and experience new things such as food, culture, and destinations. Above all, however, I am an avid Penn State football fan and enjoy the exhilaration of gameday!
Where else do you volunteer?
During my college tenure, I was involved with Penn State’s IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon benefitting the Four Diamonds Fund at the Hershey Medical Center. I served as the Business and Society House THON and Volunteer Chair and danced during THON in 2018. Additionally, I volunteered as a Child Life Specialist at the Hershey Medical Center in which I provided emotional and physical support to pediatric patients during their elongated stays in the hospital.
What is your favorite restaurant in Erie/Crawford/Venango?
Mi Scuzi
One piece of career advice to recent Penn State graduates:
Take every opportunity and make the most of it by displaying your best work. Do not be afraid to show off the skills you acquired during your education and work experience to distinguish yourself from the crowd. However, prioritize a healthy work/life balance in order to stay productive and happy in your career.
Why should alumni get involved with LEC-PSAA?
Staying connected to Penn State is invaluable as a member of the world’s largest living alumni association. The LEC-PSAA provides opportunities for alumni of all ages and disciplines to meet and expand their own personal network of likeminded individuals.
Why should alumni meet you?
As a recent graduate of Penn State, I have experience crafting modern resumes and utilizing technology for the purposes of recruiting and networking. Additionally, I have lived in various locations both domestically (Denver, CO; Hershey, PA; Greensburg, PA; Erie, PA) and internationally (Germany, Netherlands) and am happy to share my experiences as a resource for those relocating.
