Picture
Date:  Tuesday, March 2, 2021

Time: 7:00 p.m.

Location: Zoom Meeting

We are looking for more people to join the Lake Erie Chapter board of directors.  If you love Penn State, want to get involved with the Penn State community, and would like to help raise money for scholarships for deserving local Penn State students, then we would love for you to join us!  We meet on the first Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at various locations in Erie including Logan House on Penn State Behrend’s campus.  We have a lot of opportunity to get involved and give back.  Please contact Robert “Luke” Luther at 814-746-9810 for more information.

Annual Charity Golf Scramble

Check out the information for the Annual Charity Golf Outing which will be held on August 28, 2021 on the tab entitled "Golf Outing".

‘Hunger Is a Pandemic’ Food Drive

This year, as a result of COVID-19, our chapter decided to do a virtual food drive to continue to support our local food bank – Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania.  Second Harvest Food Bank provides food to those in need within eleven counties of northwest Pennsylvania while creating awareness and educating the community on the realities of hunger.

Last year, the Lake Erie Chapter battled four other PSAA chapters to see who could collect the most donations for their local food banks.  Due to the efforts of all of you, our chapter was awarded the 2019 Bread Box Award from Second Harvest for this effort – but we didn't want to stop there!

According to experts, before the COVID-19 pandemic there were already 135 million people worldwide on the brink of starvation.  We helped reduce this staggering increase by taking care of those right in our own community.

Our Chapter matched all donations and thanks to your generosity, ended up donating $750 towards this worthy cause.

Penn State Behrend Shining Star Program

We participated in Penn State Behrend's Shining Star initiative to give presents to 100 children. We adopted 10 children total. Your board of directors individually donated gifts to needy kids and the chapter adopted one child. The chapter donated gifts to a 4 year old girl who wanted art supplies, puzzles, dress up stuff, and books. Your membership dues to the Lake Erie Chapter, fees at our events, and bids on silent auction items allow us to represent Penn State in the community and give back to others with Pride.
