About Our Chapter
As members of the Penn State Alumni Association – Lake Erie Chapter (PSAA-LEC) we continuously seek to bring the true Penn State experience to western PA. Our many and varied fundraising events are done to raise valuable scholarship monies to go towards needy and deserving young students in Erie, Crawford, and Venango counties.
Over the last few years, we have heard considerable confusion over the payment of membership dues. Specifically, dues payments to the Penn State Alumni Association at University Park (aka: Main Campus) versus those for locally run chapters, such as ours. To clarify – any dues that you may pay to the University’s PSAA does not and has never extended into membership for locally run chapters. Those dues monies are not shared directly with our chapter. We are a locally run and locally funded organization. The dues you pay each year for membership in the PSAA-LEC go directly to our operating costs, supplies, newsletters, website development, and other member benefits.
If you'd like to see several correspondence from students who have received scholarships from the Lake Erie Chapter, please click here!
I hope this clarifies why we often ask you at our local events if you are a member of the PSAA-LEC. Our membership fees (just $15 /single and $20/family) have remained the same since 2009. It is my sincere hope that you will attend one of our upcoming events, enhance your Penn State experiences and join our group!
Nittany Nation is alive and well here in NW PA…and as always, WE ARE!!
Sincerely,
