Why are you involved with the Lake Erie Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association?
I stay involved to maintain a tangible connection to my Penn State pride. Myself, my two daughters, and my son-in-law are all alumni, and being part of the association fills me with blue and white joy.
What is your favorite Penn State moment?
While I can't pick just one, a standout memory is my Penn State Behrend graduation. On a beautiful May day, I crossed the stage to receive my degree and found my father standing out in the aisle with a dozen roses as I returned to my seat.
What do you like most about your career?
After briefly pursuing writing following my degree, I returned to the transportation industry. I love the close connection to customers, being a problem-solver during their most stressful times, and the constant learning and varied challenges each day brings.
What are your hobbies?
My favorite "hobby" is being a grandmother. Outside of that, I enjoy bowling, flower gardening, DIY home improvement, and playing Animal Crossing, thanks to my adult children.
Where else do you volunteer?
I volunteer now only on a limited basis with Brookside Fire Company after spending nearly 20 years there as an EMT, as well as several years holding the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, and President.
What is your favorite restaurant in Erie/Crawford/Venango?
If you want to consider chain restaurants, I admit to choosing Texas Roadhouse every time; but for something more local I’d have to go outside of those counties and pick Pine Junction in Findley Lake, NY.  (Sorry, Erie.)

One piece of career advice to recent Penn State graduates:
Don’t let your degree limit your horizons. Your Penn State degree can open doors in various fields, so pursue your passions without guilt. Also, never allow anyone to discredit the value of an arts degree.
Why should alumni get involved with LEC-PSAA?
It's a great way to stay connected or reconnect with Penn State, and there are always new ways to engage.
Why should alumni meet you?
I'm still passionate about writing/editing and can help with proofreading and wordsmithing for anything from cover letters to manuscripts.
